The New Me

I began 2010 at 283 pounds in a 40 year old body. I’d just had lower back surgery, (probably due to pushing myself too far during my 12 yrs in the Army), and was scheduled for a full right hip replacement.  I suffered from sleep apnea, asthma and was taking pain medications and muscle relaxers 2 to 3 times a day.

By April 19, 2010, I was down to 279.4 pounds, mostly recovered from my hip replacement surgery, and eager to start my weight loss program.  The first diet I tried was the “HCG DIET”.  I lost 27 pounds in 20 days and could have continued the diet for a total of 40 days, but I got very tired of the small selection of foods and just did not see this as my long term solution.

In May 2010, I began a whole food “nutritarian” diet, which is what I am currently on today and have incorporated Shakeology as one of my daily meals. I ended 2010 with a total weight loss of 86 lbs. feeling like a new man!Now I’m starting 2011 at 199 lbs in a 41 year old body, but I truly feel a lot younger. My asthma appears to be dormant, if not gone. I no longer require a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, and I have not needed to take a pain pill or muscle relaxer in over 8 months!

Even though I am totally happy about the weight I’ve lost, I still have not completely fulfilled the vision I have for my life. I want to be the healthiest that I can be and LOOK IT, so on January 15, 2010 I officially committed to completing Turbo Jam, then working my way up to completing either P90X, TurboFire and/or Insanity.  I’ll be posting updates on this site as I progress at least once a month, maybe more, so keep an eye on me as I know I’ll need the motivation!
